Student Teaching So Far...

I love student teaching! I couldn’t ask for better cooperating teachers and the students are great! I’m teaching parenting in the high school and teen living in the junior high. I wanted to share some pictures and a few of my favorite stories so far.

Story 1
7th grade boy: MISS YOUNG!
Me: It’s MRS. YOUNG, I’m married.
7th grade boy: I know, you’re married to me!
Me: I’m not sure how my husband would feel about that…not to mention I’m ten years older then you.
7th grade boy: Mrs. Young it doesn’t matter in LOVE YEARS!

Story 2
After telling the students how to open refrigerated rolls (the rolls that open when you tear the paper and they pop) a kitchen group tries to open them with a can opener and can’t understand why they can't get them open.

Story 3
Introducing a unit on vegetables I started out with a joke…
What’s the difference between boogers and broccoli?
7th grade girls answer: BOOGERS TASTE BETTER!

What's Next?!

Today I’m finally done with all my college classes, and I walked out of my beloved Clarke building probably for the last time. I must admit that I’m a little nervous. I’m not nervous for student teaching, (I think it’s going to be fun!) but nervous about the whole “what’s next” part. I’ve been a student for 18 years, and it’s scary to think that I don’t have to attend classes anymore. I mean school has been a big part of my life for a very long time! Now what?!

Utah Conference

This week my methods class went to Davis High School in Utah for a Family Consumer Science Conference. We went to a variety of classes on fashion, interior design, foods, and finance. We had so much fun! I love these girls!

Meal Management Dinner

Greg and I had the Denby and Sanofsky families over for dinner tonight. I had to plan and coordinate a dinner for my meal management midterm. For dinner, Greg cooked steak and chicken on the grill, and I made strawberry lemon aid, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and rolls. I baked chocolate cream cheese brownies but everyone was so full we hardly touched them! More for Greg and me! :) After dinner we all went and watched What Happens in Vegas at the cheap theater. Thanks friends for a great evening!

Sad news for me...

Well I finally received my student teaching placement for the fall…Snake River High School and Junior High School. It’s sixty miles from Rexburg, so the commute is not going to be fun, especially with the gas prices. :( At the high school I’ll be teaching parenting and I’m not sure what I’ll be teaching at the junior high yet. I start August 18th and finish December 5th. Wish me luck!

Cake Decor

Here’s some pictures of my final for my Cake Décor class…it was a struggle to get it done! (Finals were crazy with 20 credits!)
